So, it’s Monday. Sanita spent all weekend at Lollapalooza and I spent my weekend in the fair city of Cleveland. I got to see Matt & Kim at my favorite Cleveland venue on Saturday, though, and that was a real treat. Now it’s back to the week and back to work for some. Mondays don’t mean much to me though, since I have no job and am not in school this summer. BUT, i’m sure all y’alls people out there who have things to do on Mondays will enjoy this little Spank Rock remix, sent to me by a dude named Leg-No in London. He even included a (remixed?) video! It’s a fairly decent remix, not making me go cray-cray, but I’ll let you decide.
Remixes are awesome. Why do we love them so much? What constitutes a successful remix? Exactly how is R. Kelly’s “I’m A Flirt (Remix)” different than the original? The answers to these questions are extremely open-ended and virtually impossible to explain with words, so instead we are giving you a remix playlist as a little summer treat because we love you, and it’s just in time for you to get freaky in the club.
Remixes are sent from the heavens because they allow you to get buck to your favorite songs without having to feel awkward for dancing to scary House/Techno music. Sure, there are millions of emerging remixers/mash-up artists to keep track of these days, but we here at TT&SC have selected our personal favorites. What are yours? Feel free to give us your faves.
The Hood Internet posted a new track today. I’m not sure if we stress enough how tight they are. They love R. Kelly, we love R. Kelly, we love them, and one day they will probably love us. The Chicago, IL dudes are basically our remix-master heroes. In case you don’t know, ABX and DJ STV SLV regularly post remixes and mash-ups that they create on their site, (where you can download this track and manymanymany more) along with cleverly Photoshopped pictures of the artists/musicians on the track. Their latest mash-up has pinned Webbie against Black Moth Super Rainbow, and it is a real bangin’, psychedelic treat.
Take the time to give this a listen, folks.
Our favorite L.A. noise-boys have HEALTH have decided to remix their tunes under the moniker HEALTH//DISCO. With the aid of artists such as Acid Girls, Nastique, Narctrax and Pink Skull, it’s sure to make you wanna get buck on the dance-floor.
One of the many noteworthy tracks from this remix album (also entitled “HEALTH//DISCO”) is up for your listening pleasure.
