Exciting Stuff!

Summer is a good time for sunbathing, partying, going to concerts and for some bands releasing new music! WOOOO! Both Maps & Atlases and So Many Dynamos put up new tracks on their myspaces. I have to say that both are sounding pretty good. Isn’t it odd that these buddy bands did it around the same time? Coincidence, probably.

The newest Maps & Atlases track is titled “You And Me And The Mountain.” It surprisingly has a poppier sound to it, but the rhythmic drumming is exactly what you would expect from the boys. According to an interview I did with them back when, they said that their newer material might deter fans of their older stuff. This song is little bit different, but definitely has not turned me away. You can’t get rid of me that easily! Listen to the track yourself, HERE! You should also check out their intense summer tour dates. I think they have two St. Louis dates. I’m definitely going to try to check out their hometown show.

So Many Dynamos, or as I like to call them, Dynabros have thrown a pretty hot potato at everyone. The new track titled “New Bones” is obvious that the St. Louis locales have worked hard on it because it’s such a clean track yet somehow not off putting. I didn’t really know what to expect from an album produced by currently ranked #1 on Billboards, Death Cab for Cutie‘s Chris Walla. The boys don’t disappoint with this new track and I can’t wait to hear the whole album. Check out the track on their myspace. Or you could see them perform it in person today at KDHX’s Midwest Mayhem at City Museum.

Tumbling around City Museum not your scene? Then go to Mangia tonight and check out some pretty good experimental noise art, Skarekrauradio. Also performing are Acid Dealers Bikini Acid. The show is free so what more can you ask than that?

I forgot to add that Sea Wolf and his whimsical lyrics will be performing at the Bluebird, tonight. Rocking!

So don’t tell me that there isn’t anything for you to do tonight!
